Have you ever wondered how your fellow business leaders, non-profits, elected officials, or engaged community members use the MAP Dashboard to make informed decisions? Throughout the year the Community Spotlight will highlight how members of the Southern Arizona community utilize the MAP. These stories will provide insights on how to get the most out of the MAP and we also hope they will inspire you to use the site in new ways.

Pima County Interfaith and the MAP Dashboard

Pima County Interfaith (PCI) is comprised of dozens of faith communities and community-based non-profits. As a member of the Industrial Areas Foundation and Arizona Interfaith Network, we have worked for over three decades to develop community leaders and leverage relationships with elected officials. We intentionally work across lines of religious beliefs, political philosophies, ethnicities, and economic levels that divide us to address the issues our community families have identified as being the most important to them.

The data shared on the MAP Dashboard provides us with important context, especially with criteria like poverty rates and housing burden (the percentage of households whose monthly payment for housing exceeds 30% of income). In recent months, MAP has become even more critical as we track indicators that reveal how COVID-19 is impacting our local community. With information, we can make better decisions about advocating with policymakers about the needs of our communities in the face of this unprecedented challenge. For instance, we have created a series of instructional videos that are available on the PCI website and on the websites of our member organizations.
